Warp and Weft  was originally published in 1947 by the Marglad Corporation in Chicago. In 1955 the periodical was sold to Robin and Russ Handweavers, a weaving shop located in Oregon and owned by Russel Groff and Robin Groff. Robin and Russ Handweavers continued to publish the periodical for 30 years, until 1985. Each issue included a 4-harness weaving draft along with a woven sample, and instructions on cloth construction and end use. 10 issues were distributed a year.

Excerpt of the editors note published in Volume 1, No. 1 of Warp and Weft, written on a typewriter in November of 1947:

With this issue of Warp and Weft we are inaugurating a new service for weavers. There seem to be too few publications which help weavers to solve their problems. The policy of Warp and Weft will be to [involve] weavers in every way possible. The subscribers are to run the paper. We ask that you submit questions and answer published questions that may be beyond our editor’s [knowledge]. We shall try to give you information on available materials, instruction on the adjustment of your loom, and announcements of exhibitions and meetings interesting to weavers. Several patterns for all types of looms will be included each month. Color and texture will be discussed. Advertisements will be limited to those things interesting to weavers.

Safety note: don’t weave in and out of traffic - a cop might loom up.
